Everyone who got in our club is pretty lucky because Blue Moon had such a huge response they had to close it down! Can you believe it? I don’t know when they’re sending out the first boxes but we all just need to hang tight and be patient because they sure have their work cut out for themselves.

I know it’s kind of hard to do it without seeing the colors but how about we talk about sock patterns. What do you have in mind? Here are some I have in mind as well as anything really out of the book Sensational Knitted Socks. If you do not have that book I highly recommend it.

So let’s hear it. What patterns are on your *to do* list?

There’s a lace pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks that I like. And there are a few Sockbug patterns that I’ve printed out. Plus I have a really fat binder full of sock patterns, so I think my list is pretty long…

I don’t know if STR’s variegated will work for my list, but these are on my To Do:
Mirabella
Aran Braid
Elfine

I had heard that they might close it, which is also what prompted me to join.
No idea what pattern I might use; I usually have to look at the yarn before I can come up with it. And even then sometimes it can take me a while. :O

There are a few from Knitting Vintage Socks that I think would work with STR, like Gentleman’s Fancy Sock, Fancy Silk Sock, and Gentleman’s Sock with Lozenge Pattern. The socks (in Carbon, btw) I have been swatching for use the seed stitch rib from Thuja.

WOW as to the sock club closing to subscriptions. I bought the 1/3 year option (to try it out) and hope I’ll be able to renew later.
As for patterns… How about Pomatomus (by Cookie A, Knitty, Winter 2005)? I’m currently making a pair with this pattern; I love the stretchiness I get and it works well with the variegated yarn I’m using.
(Hmm. I haven’t commented on a Wordpress blog before… does HTML work? I hope so! : ) )

Also… if I remember correctly, we get a pattern with each yarn, right?
But I have more sock yarn than I”m willing to admit, and am always on the lookout for new patterns, such as the elfine socks mentioned above. Yum!

When I joined the club and paid by Paypal, this is the message I got back:
Thank you for joining the Rockin’ Sock Club. The kits will begin shipping out the third week of March! We can’t wait to get rolling!
So we should be getting our first shipment towards the end of March, at the latest.

Wow. As I usually miss out on such opportunities, I am so glad I made it in under the wire here!
As far as patterns go, I have been eyeing the Pom socks that seem to be on everyone’s lists these days, but I’m giving first dibs to the pattern that comes as part of the kit!
Socks OTN right now: toddler socks (free internet pattern) knit for charity. Need to cast on my second embossed leaves sock–my first-ever “grown-up” sock–and am learning all about the apathy that is SSS.

I’ve been fiddling with some of the stitch patterns in Sensational Knitted Socks, and I think I’ll be making more. I’m looking forward to trying the patterns that come with the STR, though. I love surprises!
